HAVE YOU HEARD... JOKES - HOUSEMATES

The Housemates Favourite JOKES

Nobody really knows the origin of jokes but the idea of making other people laugh has probably been around as long as mankind itself.
What makes something funny is almost as impossible a question to answer as why one person may find the same jokes funnier than an another person. With our international global village, the question of different humour travelling well (or not!) comes up. Without doubt though, for anyone studying another language, jokes provide the ultimate test for understanding, regardless of whether or not they make you laugh!

Tom says : “A woman gets on a Bus carrying a baby and as she shows the driver her ticket he says
‘Ughh! What an ugly Baby!’ the woman shocked and shaken sits down next to a kindly looking old man and seeing her visibly upset he asks her what’s wrong.
The woman says in a trembling voice:
“That Driver just insulted me-he shouldn’t be allowed to do that….”
To which the man replies “You’re quite right dear he shouldn’t get away with it - you go and have a go at him - I’II hold the Monkey for you”
This one was voted no.1 in a recent UK magazine poll.

Emma Says : “I really can’t be bothered with jokes-I can’t see the point of them!
Classic quotes might be quite witty in some circumstances, things like -
'Only ever borrow money from a pessimist ‘cos they won’t expect it back.'
'I used to be snow white - but I drifted' (Mae West) or
' an archaeologist is the best husband any woman can have: The older she gets, the more interested he is in her.' (Agatha Christie).
... they can be quite amusing.
Keep ‘em coming Emma!
